Creating a character
When you log to the game first time, you need to create a character. There are 7 races in the world of Lineage. They have different race characteristics. Choose the race and the main class for your character. Race characteristics have a certain impact on choosing a race and a class, but it doesn’t make a serious difference.

First login to the game
When you’ve chosen a server and created your character, you log in to the game. Human, Elf, Dark Elf, Orc, Dwarf and Kamael characters appear in the Museum of the Talking Island Village, Ertheia characters appear in the Faeron Village. You can find the info about the game interface in Interface section. You can also study the Tutorial Guide which can be found in your character’s inventory (Alt+V).
How to define your location
The world of Lineage II is vast. Players can quickly move to different parts of the world using different devices and NPCs. You don’t need to worry that you wouldn’t be able to find teleporting devices, you’ll learn about them in the game process. However, you do need to learn how to use the map to define your location. It’s pretty easy to open the map and to use it. Press Open Map button in right down corner of the screen or use Alt+M hotkey (M key with Chat with Enter function enabled). On the map you’ll see the markers which define your character’s location, the direction where it moves and quest markers as well. You can turn on/off quest markers in the quest log (Alt+U).
Quests
There are new quests which help new players develop their characters. By completing them you'll get the basic battle skills. The game has the following quest interface.
Character development - main races
Achieving level 18
You’d better not hurry while developing your character. Enjoy the gameplay and learn more about its specifics. When your character achieves level 18, you can start first class transfer. Players level 1-18 are recommended to complete quests instead of hunting mobs. Talking Island Village is the place where players complete a series of easy quests, getting more experience, obtaining equipment and other necessary items.
The series of simple quests on the Talking Island is continued with the quests in Ruins of Ye Sagira. Such quests make a series as well. It takes approximately an hour to get level 18 and complete your first class transfer. Below you can see the sequence of quests. Click a quest name to open its page and see the guidance.
